The Drake Hotel, Andy Poolhall, Revival and The Phoenix are just a few of the venues at which DJ Doctor Baggie entertains party goers on a regular basis. His icon centric parties include the PURPLELECTRICITY Prince Party (Prince tribute party) and Can’t Stop Esther – The Madonna marathon, and have developed quite the following with regularly occurring events (19th edition of the Prince Party) . Check out the DJ DOCTOR BAGGIE interview below..
How would you describe your own sound?
Eclectic spanning the last four decades. Music that gets people dancing and thinking. The use of music videos as much as possible, since I'm a VJ. At icon-centric parties, intense focus on certain artists: Prince, Madonna, David Bowie, T. Rex.
Who inspires you?
My DJing mentor is DJ Madame HAIR (Toronto). She got me started, inspired me to infuse a sense of humor into my musical selections, and taught me that non-stop rock 'n roll can be a good thing.
Where is your most memorable or unusual place you've played?
Most memorable gig was VJing the Official Madonna After Party at This Is London alongside Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour DJ Enferno.
What is on deck for you in the near future or long term?
I plan to continue with my current gigs and make my VJing even slicker with some new technology. Taking my all-Prince and all-Madonna parties on the road to Montreal, Vancouver, and Halifax is likely.
What are your all time top favorite tracks?
Prince: "Dance On", Madonna: "Burning Up", David Bowie: "Fashion", T. Rex: "Think Zinc", Blondie: "Atomic", Suede: "Heroine", The Gap Band: "You Dropped a Bomb on Me", Amii Stewart: "Knock on Wood".
